Yesterday, DENTICE, the student service sub-branch of YOMS, co-organized a “Dental Checkup cum Fun Day” with Speechians’ Action for secondary school students with special educational needs at Mary Rose School. Under the supervision of Dr Karen Cheung, basic dental examination was provided, whilst oral health education was also delivered to the participants via group games and 1-on-1 oral hygiene instructions. The YOMS annual social event, was held in a roof top BBQ restaurant in Lai Chi Kok this year. Around 40 students and committee members joined the events, sharing thoughts and joys together. All participants enjoyed the nice venue and event, and we are looking forward to organize more social events in the future which can give participants a relaxing day during the busy curriculum in school and work.

YOMS Scientific lecture about salivary gland disease by Dr Richard Su was successfully held on 14/9.
Thanks to Dr Su for giving us such an interesting and informative seminar about the common pathology and management of salivary gland disease, and hope everyone had gained some insights about omfs after this night.
In early August, DENTICE, the student service sub-branch of YOMS, co-organized a service trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia with 開心樹社會服務 Happy Tree Social Services. Under the supervision of Dr. Mike Leung, we offered 200 villagers dental treatments – ranging from oral health education, preventive treatments, restorations to extractions. For the time we spent with children in the orphanages, we realized that happiness could not be any simpler than doodling, playing football, twisting balloons and knotting beaded bracelets… 5 days subtly passed, yet this place redefined happiness and left us with fond memories.
